Homecoming: Celebrating The Release of Flavors of Life in the Metro Detroit area

Hello again, and greetings from the great state of Michigan! As you may have seen from my social media or in my blogs about Chicago, West Michigan, East Lansing, and Ann Arbor, I’m in the States for multiple reasons, one of which is a Midwest book tour. I’m incredibly honored to share the inspirational stories from my book, Flavors of Life. I’m from the Metro Detroit area originally, so that served as my home base while on my Midwest book tour. Naturally, I lined up events in the area, as well, including a book club guest appearance, book party and charity event, as well as mini-celebration for Flavors of Life at ROAK Brewing Co. in Royal Oak. Read on to hear more about the events!

A Look at the Emotional, Mental, and Physical Aspects of Publishing a Book

Someone needs to pinch me. I cannot believe this day has arrived! After two and a half years of full-time work, I received the first shipment of books on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. I just about dropped to the pavement. I couldn’t believe after all these years – from the initial idea and interviews to research, transcriptions, writing, editing, and design – that I was holding Flavors of Life in my own two hands. Writing a book is one thing, but many do not know what goes into publishing and the behind-the-scenes work. The whole process is extensive, and I’d like to share my experiences – briefly – in this post.

What’s So Special About February 14, 2016?

Today, on Sunday, February 14, 2016, Jessica Lipowski raises a glass to honor three special milestones: Valentine’s Day and love, her five-year anniversary of living in the Netherlands, and sending out Beta copies of her book “Flavors of Life” to Beta readers. Read about her experiences, and toast with her to the past, present, and future.

Inspiration for the Book

When I mention the premise of my book, people usually ask one of two questions: how many of the 178 nationalities in Amsterdam do you feature, and how did you come up with the concept. The answer to the first question is fairly straightforward, 41. The second one requires a bit of an explanation. Read more to find out what inspired my upcoming book.
