The JACultureTrav Extravaganza and Amsterdam Meet-Up Was a Huge Success

JACultureTrav

On Thursday, December 3, 2015, CultureTrav and JAChat teamed up to host a special JACultureTrav Twitter extravaganza. The online portion of the event took place at 2:30pm EST (8:30pm CET), and people chimed in from all over the world to discuss the topic “Travel Inspiration.” The responses were incredibly inspiring, ranging from the thoughtful answers to the stunning photos provided by the participants. The chat was headed by Nicolette Orlemans (@Nicolette_O), the founder of #CultureTrav, Pola Henderson (@jettingaround), the founder of #JAchat, and myself, along with #JAchat hosts Francesca Mazurkiewicz (@WorkMomTravels), Romy Mlinzk (@snoopsmaus) and Dave Cole (@cooksipgo). Read the recap here.

In honor of this special occasion, we decided to hold in-person meet-ups on the same day. Nicolette hosted a meet-up in New York City at the Hyatt Herald Square (read her impressions here), while Pola held JAcafe in Chicago. The Amsterdam meet-up was a huge success! The Hoxton Hotel (@TheHoxtonAMS) graciously hosted the #JACultureTrav tweet-meet. The meet-up was held in Lotti’s, but our group had our own private room in The Apartment. What a beautiful space! It looks like a kitchen, with the counter serving as the centerpiece. The room is even adjacent to the courtyard. The hotel is gorgeous, so whether you are visiting and looking for a place to stay or just want to grab a drink, consider The Hoxton. Plus, there’s always something going on. Be sure to check out the all-new Hoxton, also with locations in London (Shoreditch and Holborn).

We started our meet-up at 7:30 p.m., gathering in the pantry kitchen for a meet-and-greet. At 8:30 p.m., we moved into the board room to set-up our computers and join the online portion of the event (JACultureTrav). The ten of us tweeted live from the same place. Throughout the evening, we swapped stories – as we are all travellers – and shared laughs over drinks.

  1. […] My co-host and aspiring author, Jessica Lipowski, arranged a live tweet meetup in Amsterdam at the Hoxton Hotel. It looked like a wonderful time with fellow travelers who joined the chat and then were able to continue exchanging stories offline, and you can read about Jess’s fun impressions on her site. […]
