List of Foreign Films and Travel-Related Movies
Yesterday on #CultureTrav we discussed the topic “Movies” together with special guest host Erik Scalavino. The discussion was not only inspirational – providing the community with ideas of new places to see and explore – but also added foreign films and travel-related movies to our “must see” list. Following the chat, I collected the names of all the foreign films and travel-related movies, whether mentioned as an overall favorite, inspiration to travel to a particular destination or an accurate representation of a certain culture, ones associated with travel destinations and those suggested by a #CultureTrav chatter who visited a film set location. Below is the list in alphabetical order:

In a way, the Disney movie “The Lion King” inspired me to visit South Africa and embark on multiple safaris. Photo: male lion in Kruger Park, South Africa

Thank you once again to Erik for the great topic suggestion and guest hosting yesterday, and as always, to my amazing co-host and the founder of #CultureTrav Nicolette Orlemans. And an even bigger shout-out to the wonderful #CultureTrav community – thank you for inspirational and intellectual discussions each and every week!
I’d love to hear from you which foreign films and travel-related movies are your favorites. Did they make this list? Please let me know in the comments below.
I’m absolutely gutted I missed the chat! There are some of my all time favourite films in this list. I’ve recently watched Everest and would really recommend it to anyone who likes adventure and has seen into the wild as it features Jon Krakauer, the journalist that wrote into the wild. Fantastic film!
Thank you for the recommendation, Maria! I’m sure many would love that film, as well, as Into The Wild was a popular pick. We missed you, too, during #CultureTrav, but know you were there in spirit 🙂
