The story of Nelys Velazquez, originally from Venezuela, and Folcmar Louman, raised in Friesland in northern Netherlands, starts in a train. Traveling to Amsterdam, Folcmar from the south of France and Nelys from Rotterdam, the two strangers bonded in a discussion over their love for theater. Both had been professional actors and loved the arts. What began as a friendship sprouting from a shared interest, blossomed into a beautiful relationship and business partnership.
Four years later, they decided to change careers completely and open a restaurant of their own in Amsterdam. Neither one of them had any experience in the hospitality industry, but both shared a strong passion and interest in food. Tasca Bellota features the flavors of Spanish cuisine – often with Venezuelan influences – and warm hospitality.
